Private number plates, with the full price up front
CheapNumberPlates is a new place to buy private and personalised number plates. Search DVLA registrations and plates from private sellers by name, word or initials, and see exactly what you'll pay before you buy.
Search by name, word or initials
Type a name like JAMES or a word like BOSS and you'll see every plate that reads as it, lookalikes like J4 MES included. Initials and birth years work too.
One price, nothing added
Every price includes VAT, the £80 DVLA assignment fee and our fee, broken down line by line on the plate page. Nothing gets added at checkout.
We do the paperwork
We secure the registration with DVLA when you order and send the certificate of entitlement (V750) by tracked post, in your name or the name of the person you're buying for.
Questions
When does the site open?
Very soon. Leave your email above and we'll tell you the day we open. We won't send you anything else unless you ask.
Can I put a private plate on any vehicle?
Any vehicle registered with DVLA that's of a type needing an MOT or HGV test, as long as the plate doesn't make it look newer than it is. Dateless plates fit any age. Q plates can't take a private registration.
Whose name goes on the plate's certificate?
Yours, or the person you're buying for. The certificate of entitlement (V750) is issued in the name you choose when you order.
Do I need new physical plates?
Yes. Once the registration is on your vehicle, you need plates showing it, made by a registered number plate supplier, who will check your ID and V5C.
