Terms & Conditions
These terms and conditions apply to all business transactions carried out by Cheap Number Plates, hereinafter referred to as 'the company'.
The person applying for entitlement to the registration mark from 'the company' hereinafter will be referred to as the 'purchaser'
All personalised registrations available from www.cheapnumberplates.co.uk are sold subject to availability and offered on a first come, first serve basis.
All registration marks are supplied on a certificate of entitlement (V750) with simple instructions for transferring the number to your vehicle at your DVLA local licensing office.
Should you choose to keep the registration mark on the certificate rather than immediately transfer it to a vehicle, the certificate is valid for a period of 12 months from the date specified on the certificate. It is the buyer's responsibility to apply to have the certificate renewed 1 month prior to the expiry date.
The transaction is not completed until the company has confirmed the registration has been registered in your name. Please do not arrange purchase of the vehicle plates until you have received the certificate. It is illegal to display any registration mark before the transfer is completed by The Department of Transport.
While the company makes every effort to ensure the accuracy of data contained on this site in respect of the registration numbers listed it cannot guarantee the status or availability of these registrations. The company cannot and does not accept any responsibility for any claim or action that might arise from decisions, whether business or private, that are made about the availability or otherwise of such registrations as a result of searches made using www.cheapnumberplates.co.uk.
Certificates normally take around 3 working days to be posted, however please allow up to 7 days in peak traffic times.
The Certificate of entitlement is a personalised product and is therefore exempt from the distance selling regulations regarding the right to cancel and be refunded. Therefore as part of the online purchase screen, you are required to confirm you have read these conditions of purchase and agree to waive your cooling off period. Our service begins immediately upon payment being taken.
The Department of Transport does not allow a registration mark to be used to make a vehicle appear newer than when it was first registered. You cannot transfer a registration on your vehicle that was released after your vehicle was first registered. Example: a 'K' (Aug 92) registered vehicle can only display a number plate of a 'K' registration or older i.e A – K prefix. The same formula applies to the new format plates where a '51' (Sept 01) number plate can only be transferred to a car of that age or newer. It is the responsibility of the purchaser to ensure any registration purchased is of an adequate age for transfer to the vehicle. Unfortunately, refunds cannot be given if you purchase a registration that is not capable of being assigned to your vehicle.
The company will not be made responsible for failed transfers of entitlement. In the event of a failed transfer where the company is responsible then a full refund will be made to the purchaser. The company's liability in this respect is limited to a refund and under no circumstances will claims for damages, interest on monies paid, or expense incurred be entertained by the company.
All prices on the website are believed to be correct. Should an incorrect price be shown where the price difference is not in your favour, you will be contacted prior to registering the mark against your name.
When purchasing a registration, the nominee name you specify for the certificate must be the exact name that appears as the 'registered keeper' on the V5 Vehicle Registration Document for the vehicle the registration is to be transferred to. Amendments can be made to add or change the nominee's name upon payment of a government fee (presently £25) this must be done through your DVLA local office.
All registrations sold on this website can only be assigned to vehicles in the UK.
You should not proceed with a purchase if it is your intention to mis-space or misrepresent your number plates. If you do and you display them on your vehicle you will be committing an offence which upon conviction carries a maximum fine of £1000. The Secretary of State for Transport may also take away your rights to the number and you will not be entitled to a refund of any monies you have paid.
